| Sanders: "Renata Stone. Brenson Sanders and Sherata Winsonio reporting for Novian News Prolixa Central. You're Second in Command, right?" Stone: "Yes. That's correct." Sanders: "Commander Larson said you'd be able to fill us in on a few things about the mission. You look kind of busy. What are you doing?" Stone: "Yeah, you got that right. I am kind of busy." Sanders: "Can you spare a moment?" Stone: "Depends. What do you want to know?" Winsonio: "We've heard it's an interesting mix of disciplines on this mission. Is there any tie-in between the expertise of the team members and the recent biological quarantine on Mare? Obviously, you don't want a contamination incident." Stone: "Well, we're taking ten explorers into the caverns. That's more than our typical missions. Do I know why we're doing that? Not really. Is there a tie-in between the mix on this trip and the quarantine? If there is, I'm not aware of it. Explora hasn't had a contamination incident in over three years, so I don't think that's a concern. You really need to get the commander to clarify the team mix though. He put the team together, so he knows exactly why he did it." Sanders: "What kind of commander is Hunter Larson? We talked with your CEO, Abby Kensington. She had some very good things to say about him." Stone: "Well, I agree with her. Hunter's basically a good guy and a good commander and all - very instinctive, but personally I question a decision he made for this expedition. Ramon Ramirez is in charge of groundwater sampling, but Ramon and I usually don't see eye to eye. Hunter's quite aware that's going to be a problem." Sanders: "What do you mean by that? You two don't get along then?" Stone: "I think I said too much already. All I can add is Ramon and I have different philosophies. Look. I have to run now. I have a huge preflight checklist to go over on the Canopus before departure. And I think I'd better be the one doing it because I am the pilot. Hey, Ivers! Can you fill these news folks in on some of the geology of the caverns? Sorry I can't give you any more time, but I already told you that up front." |
